make your decision:
France
Offers some of the largest pisted areas in the world and
has many people returning year after year to enjoy its varied
terrain. It really does have something for everyone. You will
find an impressive range of accommodation including many self
catering apartments and hotels. Look out for the Neilson Chalets
and Lodges. These properties are run exclusively by us for
our guests.
Italy
Charming villages with great food at value-for-money prices.
Italy has a great atmosphere for singles. couples and families.
The skiing is superb and there is a wide selection of resorts,
from the very lively to the more sedate. There is always a
great sense of community in the Italian resorts with many
of the hotels being run by successive generations of local
families. Self catering accommodation is limited, but Neilson
has some great chalet accommodation.
Austria
Traditional family run hotels providing marvellous hospitality
to visitors. There is very little self catering accommodation,
but bed and breakfast is popular. Choose the type of accommodation
to suit your needs or try a Neilson Lodge where the emphasis
is certainly on quality of service and food. The resorts are
a little lower in altitude than some of their European counterparts
but the snow is good and provides excellent skiing and boarding
for all levels.
Canada and the USA
Famed for powder!
You will find the snow conditions are usually fantastic.
The pistes here are called trails, but the main difference
are the 'Bowls. where the off-piste is secured and monitored
for your safety so there is extensive terrain that you can
ride safely. Definitely something for everyone. With no language
barriers and innovative ski and boarding schools; the lessons
are first class. Accommodation is varied with a selection
of all types, mainly on a room only or self catering basis.
Romania and Bulgaria
Great value for money in good standard accommodation, Look
out for the 'Learn to' programmes offered in these resorts.
They are the best value way to learn to ski and board (see
page 17). The skiing and boarding may not be as extensive
as some of the other destinations, but it is ideal for beginners
or improvers and is combined with great value après
ski.
Norway and Sweden
For the warmest of welcomes! Scandinavia is particularly
recommended for beginners and families. They excel in providing
efficient service, high quality accommodation good skiing
and boarding and great après ski. Scandinavia is also
the home of cross-country skiing. You will find that it offers
the very best variety of track and off- track skiing to explore,
There is a festive atmosphere year round and especially at
Christmas when Santa Claus visits the resorts!
Andorra
Skiing and boarding, varied nightlife and tax free shopping.
Andorra is a popular ski and board destination, with the
lively resort of Pas de La Casa or the more relaxed resorts
of Arinsal and Soldeu. Each offers a good selection of bars
and restaurants linked with great skiing and boarding. Accommodation
available includes self catering, B&B and half board hotels.
Switzerland
Is home to traditional mountain villages that have transformed
from farming communities into year-round holiday destinations.
Switzerland is associated with high living, quality of service
and high standards.
